This piece takes a knowing look at the idea of being observed, or maybe judged, through the wide, unblinking eyes of a French Bulldog (my wee man Cú in fact) - looking very smart in his red bow tie. With bold strokes of black and white and the scrawled words “I’m watching you” in red, it balances humour with a hint of judgement. It’s playful, a little bit sassy, and just self-aware enough to make you smile back at it. That's what I think - plus people seem to love pictures of dogs, so why not join the gang!

I’m Watching You is part of my ongoing series Sketchy Thoughts — a playful, growing body of work that parodies the kind of ‘art’ we see for sale today. It’s a spontaneous visual diary of what I see around me, created entirely on my iPad wherever I happen to be, in the bath, on a plane, in the car, or on a beach somewhere, capturing thoughts before they slip away. Each piece is sparked by a passing sentiment, a song, or a fleeting idea, turning quick impressions into lasting images.

Together, the works in Sketchy Thoughts explore humour, perception, and the immediacy of everyday thought — quick, expressive, and rooted in the moment.
