Total Stunner
Digital sketch on iPad — Limited Edition Print
There’s this strange obsession people have with cows. You see them everywhere — in fields, on mugs, hanging in galleries. Painters adore them — or maybe they just adore the revenue from them. Either way, the cow has become a kind of rural celebrity: calm, dependable, and endlessly marketable. I couldn’t paint this one any other way but as a supermodel — perfect lighting, flawless bone structure, centre stage. Total Stunner is part admiration, part parody — because maybe the real story isn’t about the cow at all, but about us and what we choose to idolise.
Total Stunner is part of my ongoing series Sketchy Thoughts — a playful, evolving body of work that parodies the kind of “art” we see for sale today. It’s a spontaneous visual diary of what I see and feel around me, created entirely on my iPad — in the bath, on a plane, in the car, or on a beach somewhere — capturing thoughts before they slip away. Each piece begins with a passing emotion, a lyric, or a fleeting spark, turning those quick impressions into lasting images.
Together, the works in Sketchy Thoughts explore humour, perception, and the immediacy of everyday thought — quick, expressive, and rooted in the moment.
