THE GATHERING

Together. Apart. Always Connected.

 

The Gathering consists of one full-sized Vessel and two Keepsake Vessels, made together for the same family. Some families choose to divide ashes between those closest to them. The Gathering collection grew from the idea that the vessels holding those ashes could themselves share a connection.

The three pieces are made together in my Belfast studio, from the same clay and finished in the same glaze. Each is individually handmade, so they will never be identical. There will be small differences in their form and surface, but they will unmistakably belong together.

The main Vessel can hold the majority of the ashes, while the smaller Keepsake Vessels allow individual family members to keep a portion close to them.

Additional Keepsake Vessels can be made at the same time for larger families.

There is something I particularly love about this collection. They begin together as clay in the studio and eventually leave for different homes, each carrying a small part of the same person with them.
