I think I remember this piece taking its cue from that iconic line — George Michael? Beyoncé? Who knows anymore. Ladies and Gentlemen just felt right. There’s a kind of effortless attitude in it, like an introduction to something grand that never quite arrives. The dog sits there, perfectly composed, half host, half muse, totally owning the moment. I’ve no idea what it’s really about — I just like it.

Ladies and Gentlemen is part of my ongoing series Sketchy Thoughts — a playful, evolving body of work that parodies the kind of “art” we see for sale today. It’s a spontaneous visual diary of what I see and feel around me, created entirely on my iPad — in the bath, on a plane, in the car, or on a beach somewhere — capturing thoughts before they slip away. Each piece begins with a passing emotion, a lyric, or a fleeting spark, turning those quick impressions into lasting images.
