Koi Dishes

Our Koi dishes and platters were inspired by a remarkable pot I saw in Vietnam a few years ago. The red earthenware has a quiet warmth and modesty that feels right for this body of work, simple pots, simply made, and barely touched. These pieces are always evolving, growing, changing, and never to be repeated.
Made between 2018 and 2019, these pots capture the mood and quiet beauty of looking into still pools, down onto koi gently moving about. They’re not impersonations of ponds, but an imagination of looking in on something happening, from the outside. The red earthenware frames these slipped dishes beautifully; they can function on a tabletop or hang on a wall, purely as a visual treat.
All of these pots have now found new homes. I work in batches, creating collections that capture a moment or mood, so I rarely revisit past pieces. I’ve kept these works online to share a sense of my approach and the kinds of pots I love to make. New collections are always in progress, each one evolving from the last, so keep an eye out for what’s next.
