Inspiring Moments
As part of my trip away this year, I spent about a month in northern Vietnam, moving between Hanoi, Ninh Binh, and Ha Giang. It’s honestly one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been in the world. The scale of it, the quietness, the gentle way of life once you get out into the mountains and paddy fields, it's breath-taking. And the people are just as memorable - warm, welcoming, and easy to be around, they make the experience so special.
I'm often asked 'do you feel inspired when you go away' and in answer I would say that inspiration doesn’t really come from seeing a piece of ceramics or artwork and then doing my version of it. For me, it comes from slowing things down, letting the head relax, and giving myself a bit of space. It’s in those quieter moments, in that bit of stillness, whether I’m on the back of a motorbike, standing at the edge of a cliff, or up on a scary mountain road, that something starts to open up. It’s in that space, in that emptiness, that you get the freedom to think, and in turn feel inspired.
If you follow the link below, you’ll get a small taste of what it’s like. Vietnam is a special place, and for me, it’s somewhere that lets you slow down, gather your thoughts again, and come back feeling properly refreshed and ready to go.
