I have visited Dublin on a number of occasions looking for the right view, of Dublin, from the Northside, not the small intimate drawing but the big landscape that envelopes the whole city. So back in June 2013 I was down with my friends Paul and Conor for a night, the next morning after dandering about for a few hours I went to 10am mass in Saint Peters Church. Ten minutes after speaking the Sacristan I was at the top of the bell tower taking in the most stunning, and rarely seen, view of Dublin. Stretching from the upper left we can see, Howth and Croke Park and Dublin Bay, from there tucked in amongst the buildings the Liffey runs right, to the west. Along this vista you can see the new Spire, which sits in O’Connell Street, Christchurch and Saint Patrick’s Cathedrals, The Guinness Brewery and the edge of Phoenix Park. In the foreground you have the traditional Dublin Georgian terrace houses, the Dublin bus and Saint Peters Church.
