"Potter Stephen Farnan employs an easy going approach to clay. His quirky, energetic pieces - mainly tableware: cups, platters, plates, bowls are 'simplistic' 'disorganised' in their design, belying a more considered approach and aptitude for innovation and experimentation. Stephen often plays with form; flipping, squeezing and cutting pieces, playfully transforming pots from ordinary beginnings. His recent collection Domestic Life is created using a simple red clay with slips and sgraffito decoration, these drawings have liberated his pots, the imagery described as being like 'diary entries, recording a moment, a place or a feeling - tattoos for pottery!' - These pots are personal."
